LG 2-Part System
LG 2-Part System is the most commonly used method of making number plates and signs using laser printers.
As the name suggests, there are 2 parts: the film and the rigid reflective
The film
- The film is coated allowing it to be printed on by recommended Laser Printers whether mono or colour.
- You print the number plate or sign in reverse on 1 side of the film.
The rigid reflective
- The reflective part is a rigid plastic sign with the reflective on one side.
- Remove the protective clear film of the adhesive reflective side.
Combining the 2 parts
- Place the rigid reflective plate or sign, adhesive side up, on to the alignment jig.
- Place the printed film (with the printed element viewable the correct way) above the rigid reflective plate and use an alignment jig to bond both parts together.

The completed plate or sign will have the printed element on the inside of the film between the rigid reflective and the front of the film - this means the letters cannot be scratched off.
